I never look for objectivity in a blog. Sometimes the attempt is there but aren't blogs all about expression of the self and one's unique viewpoint? Hell, the less objective it is the more interesting I find it, how else can one get a sense of what people from different cultures find important?

As to finding the positive, the world in general needs more of that. The "If it bleeds, it leads." school of journalism needs a counterbalance. If I had more technical savvy I'd set up a web site that scans the world news for violent deaths, accesess the most up to date estimate of world population and subtracts the two numbers. The banner would read "Yesterday 6,657,467,910 People Were Not Murdered."
