This morning, I was informed that today is Blog Day. Now, in my humble opinion, this is a piece of news I would have liked to have had last week, so I could have planned. Because seriously, with two blogs of my own and with three more to which I contribute on a weekly basis, and add to that the unwritten posts about my Nefesh B'Nefesh olot (one of whom was stolen by another blogger because I didn't post fast enough), the Blogger Convention, and today's meeting of Amuta 2.0, and I feel like every day is Blog Day.
No, people said: Blog Day isn't about posting to your own blog. It's about identifying new blogs that you're liking or admiring lately, and sharing them with your readers. OK, but I still have something like five blogs. So I'm going to take things one blog/day at a time. I'll start here, then go to JDaters Anonymous, and then to ROI120.com. If I'm feeling creative, I'll pitch to Idol Chatter, and see what's going on at Jewlicious.
But before I launch this blog-globalization expansion plan, I'll start locally, with the MyUrbanKvetch Top Five Newish Blogs Which I Recommend:
Cool Jew: My friend, the very talented writer and skilled self-promoter known as Lisa Alcalay Klug, launches her opus, Cool Jew: The Ultimate Guide for Every Member of the Tribe, on this site. The book is out tomorrow, officially, so click the link above to buy it at Amazon, or check your local bookstore; and/or check the events calendar for her rockin' launch parties, coming soon to a city near you.
MyShrapnel: Yes, it's a kicker of a blog name, but you'll find Gila's writing as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. Plus, her recent hosting of the Jewish Blogcarnival (see current post) provides a vast sampler platter representing the Jewish blogosphere, so check it out.
Sabra at Heart: Spot-on commentary about life in Israel and Web 2.0, sometimes in the same post. For an example of her incisive analysis, check out this post about the NBN Blogger Convention, which is critical in a constructive way, without sinking into petty sniping, the way so many other posts did.
These aren't the only worthy ones. So check out all of our blogrolls and click on some new blogs today, and don't forget to leave your comments for the authors so they know you've been reading...
Happy Blog Day!
