Denial Diary
6:40 am
Wake up in own bed, confused. Prepare morning meal: cucumbers, tomatoes and cottage cheese. Consume caffeine in the form of a cafe hafuch. Sit down to computer and begin work. Everyone else has been working for hours, and for me it's early morning. Did they stay up all night? Confused.
9 am
Catch up on emails to members of the PresenTense Institute for Creative Zionism. Try to get up to speed on PresenTense Issue Three, now in process for September publication.
10:30 am
Can't find Galgalatz on my radio dial. All shows are randomly in English and only play one type of music per station. Check online, find Galgalatz and listen to uniquely bizarre and entertaining mix of oldies and dance music, as well as Israeli news about traffic and weather. Listen carefully to the words of one song, and end up convinced that the man is singing "At hamazgan sheli, at kol haolam sheli" (you are my air conditioner, you are my whole world).
11am
Limonana, rocks, large glass. Doesn't taste quite the same, but I'm using Crystal Light, so there's sure to be some taste difference. Add more spearmint, and I don't mind the lack of lemon pulp.
1pm
Lunch: hummus and pita, vegetables, and watermelon for dessert. Another hafuch.
2pm
Upload Israel photos to Facebook. More limonana. Consider making awesome eggplant dish I tried last Friday night in Jerusalem. Decide it's too much work and spend more time on Facebook, tagging Lindsay in every photo.
4pm
Post more over at ROI120.com about ROI Summit. Send out columns, blog posts via Facebook. Leave stalkerish messages for the people I've been hanging out with including Lindsay and Ariel.
5pm
Walk to gym through streets where the buses travel at a normal speed. Watch TV. Why are all these TV shows in English? That's weird.
8pm
Get a call from a Hollywood producer looking for marketing advice. Wait a minute...am I back in the States?
9pm
Spend two hours finishing the upload, captioning, tagging and commenting on photos. Start composing a post for Zabaj about my favorite pizza joint sign.
11pm
Consider the possibility that I've actually left Israel, and chase away the insanity with a rugelach from Marzipan.
11:30pm
Erev tov.
7:45 am
Get up, prepare hafuch. Listen to Galgalatz. Email PICZ. Limonana. Eat kosher Mentos. Chew Must gum. Tag more photos. Finish Zabaj post. Start another day living in denial, because it is a happy place.

Esther, Mazgan Lkulam was the turn of phrase heard round the country--it'll resonate until you get back over here. missing you! ah

3.30 am - Wake up from my first night back in the States. Clean my apartment.
5.30 am - Watch the sunrise, realizing that I am no longer in Israel. What?!?
7.00 am - Walk next door to the Israeli coffee place and chat with my friend in Hebrew. Consume Hafuch.
9.00 am - Ok, I am back in NY. I remember that I was greeted at the airport by an amazing friend :) I smile. I feel better.
9.30 am - Back to sleep zzzzz
