THIS JUST IN: "Average Joe" Adam Mesh Engaged
UPDATED: Now with a link to photo...
He was the "average Joe" who battled for the heart of a young lovely, and lost, but was such a popular favorite that NBC gave him another shot with his own Average Joe show.
But ultimately, true love for Adam Mesh happened off-camera. Her name is Jessica, and she and Adam will be married next summer in Miami. Want details on the proposal?
Her office helped make up a fake e-mail that said one person from every department had to go to watch a film on new corporate products. I had reserved the theatre and was hiding in the control room when she got there. It started off with a previews and then went to a live video of the first night we ever hung out. She came to a party for my birthday and a friend was videoing. He caught us talking on camera and I got the tape. That was followed by a picture montage to music. The actual song playing when I proposed was Peter Gabriel's.In Your Eyes. "Say Anything" automatically moves up on my all time favorite movie list for exposing to that song. I wasn't standing in the rain with a radio over my head but it worked!
This information should be up at his website, AdamMesh.com, but it isn't. It was sent out as an email, to people on his mailing list (and as an opportunity to plug his appearance on Battle of the Network Reality Stars).
I interviewed Adam Mesh in Washington, DC at the UJC Young Leadership Conference in 2004. During our interview, his mother called me "The Jewish Carrie Bradshaw." (No, I'm not invited to the wedding. And no, I don't know if his fiancee is Jewish.)
At that same conference, I interviewed Cindy Chupack, the writer/co-executive producer of Sex & the City, and Evan Marc Katz, the CEO of E-Cyrano* and dating guru/author of I Can't Believe I'm Buying This Book. Cindy announced her engagement a few months ago. And now Adam's getting hitched. Evan? The good news is, you're next.
Congratulations to Adam, his parents, Jessica and her family.

Esther, you seem like a decent interviewer. Perhaps you can teach Muffti a lesson or two?

Anytime, Muffti. Mojitos are on you, though.
