Buffyverse to Rise Again?
I don't know why the Internet keeps doing this to me, raising my hopes that Buffy and/or Angel will be resurrected as a TV miniseries or feature film. Maybe if Serenity kills at the box office this fall...
The latest fake-out comes via Whedonesque, where they link to a TV Guide interview with Joss Whedon about the upcoming Buffy and Angel comic books. Sigh.
Whedon says: "For the Angel and Spike comics, I basically told [the writers] areas to stay away from, just in case those were stories that we still might get a chance to tell on film."
What??? A movie!!! Hooray...Oh, but wait--don't bleach your hair Spike-platinum blonde or start working on your Drusilla accent just yet:
The article ends: "I have every intention of keeping the Buffyverse alive — and not just in flashback tales that I'm not connected to. And if I can't do it with the actors I love, I might just do it with drawings of the actors I love."
Back at the original post, fans discuss what this means, precisely. But basically, the dude is concentrating on Serenity now. (Not "Serenity, Now!" but the movie that evolved from the Firefly TV series.)
My vote for next project is: a Buffy movie musical. May I sigh yet again? Sigh.
In the interim, I'm just going to say it: The Internet is an informational Hellmouth. Discuss.

The upcoming Spike comic book is written by an author I like named Peter David who is an admitted fan of the series and explores the history between Spike and Halfrek (Anya's fellow Vengeance Demon). Apparently, Halfrek used to be known as Cecily. It looks good and I'll probably pick it up.

Halfrek used to be known as Cecily.
Duh. From when Spike used to be William the Bloody Awful Poet.

Peter David is one of the most trusted names in comic books. A nice guy too. He used to get his comics at the comic book store where I worked and grew up in.

Peter is a very good writer, a nice guy. (A Jewish to boot.) Oh, well we can't all have that kind of talent.
